Professional Boxer Requirements
1. Age and Eligibility
- Minimum age: 16, 17 or 18 years old (Specific age to be confirmed by NPBC regulations).
- Medical certification: Must undergo a comprehensive medical examination and provide certification of fitness to box from a Board-approved physician.
2. Application and Fees
- Submit an application: Provide detailed personal information, amateur boxing record, and professional boxing experience (if any).
- Pay the application fee: XYZ (Amount to be confirmed - potentially similar to matchmaker).
- Pay the annual subscription fee: XYZ (Amount to be confirmed - potentially similar to matchmaker).
3. Boxing Experience and Qualifications
- Amateur experience: Must typically have a minimum of 10 documented amateur bouts or provide evidence of equivalent experience acceptable to the Board.
- Training and coaching: Must be actively training under the supervision of a coach licensed by the NPBC.
4. Medical Requirements
- Annual medical examination: Must undergo a thorough medical examination annually to maintain fitness clearance for boxing.
- Brain scan: Must undergo a brain scan (MRI or equivalent) every 2 years, or more frequently if required by the Board or a physician.
- Eye examination: Must undergo a comprehensive ophthalmological examination every 6 months.
5. Licensing and Registration
- Register with the Board: Must register as a professional boxer with the NPBC.
- Obtain a boxer's license: Must successfully complete the application process and be issued a professional boxer's license by the Board before competing.
6. Ongoing Requirements
- Continuing medical certification: Must maintain valid medical certification and undergo all required medical examinations as scheduled or requested.
- Compliance with Board rules: Must strictly adhere to all NPBC rules and regulations, including those governing training, competition, conduct, anti-doping policies, and contractual obligations.
